What does it mean to be an Amnesty member?

As an Amnesty International member, you are part of one of the most effective and respected human rights organizations in the world.

Your financial contribution saves lives, prevents violations, and holds human rights violators to account. Your contribution makes possible Amnesty’s highly regarded research and reports, as well as our human rights campaigns and education projects.

When you take action, your voice is linked to the voices of almost two million people around the world who, by speaking out together, are making a real difference in people’s lives.

Sarah Mohan, Amnesty Canada member

You can get involved in Amnesty on your own terms. Match your experience, interests, skills, and available time to the kind of involvement that’s just right for you.

Be a financial contributor. Work on a special interest, such as the human rights of children or protecting human rights defenders. Take action on your own or with friends or with a local Amnesty group. Ask us to link you up with other Amnesty members who have similar interests, such as legal or health care professionals, or artists.

All Amnesty members receive a special newsletter updating you on our current concerns and successes. You can also request items such as posters, postcards appeals, Amnesty video and radio programs and much else.

If you want to discuss opportunities to get involved in Amnesty Canada, call member services staff at 1-800-AMNESTY (1-800-266-3789) or email: members@amnesty.ca.
