Amnesty International members are unshakable partisans of the right of every person to live in security, dignity and freedom.
Wherever a person is tortured or "disappeared," wherever a person is unfairly tried or subject to execution, wherever a person is imprisoned for their beliefs or forced to flee from persecution - that's where Amnesty members will be.
You'll find Amnesty supporters are determined, caring people with gentle tools in hand: their appeals, their generous donations, their banners, their vigils, their teach-ins, their fundraising benefits, their insistent but polite hectoring of public officials.
And their glowing candles - which they shine on the worst secrets of our times, and which they hold securely, protectively and hopefully against the wind.
The Amnesty candle ... this fragile flame that Amnesty supporters won't allow to be extinguished.
