We
can't stop growing!
Amnesty International
has outgrown its space and is looking for a permanent, visible
home in the heart of
Toronto. Read why we need your help, and please help us today
in this campaign.
The new Amnesty
Action and Resource Centre - to be known as Human Rights House - will be home to the
National
Urgent Action Network and the
National Refugee Network
These two critical and life-saving Amnesty programs are supported
by a growing stream of volunteers. Amnesty's space in Toronto is
also a centre for media campaigning and fundraising activities.
Campaign Update: Campaign Extended Due to Eviction
We apologize for the long delay since we last updated you. The campaign has been very low-key for quite some time.
During 2007, even though we had decided that we would be running a campaign to buy our own building, the Toronto fundraising staff were consumed by the work required to raise funds for Amnesty International's mission work. It had been a very challenging year for the national fundraising program, and all effort wer required just to fund our core work.
However, we must move the Toronto office before August 2009! At the end of June 2009 our temporary lease will be up, and the staff and volunteers have long outgrown this makeshift space for our human rights work.
We are re-launching the campaign for our Action and Resource Centr in Toronto, now also know as Amnesty International's Human Rights House in Toronto. Read on to learn more!
If you would like to help Amnesty International avoid another eviction, and the resulting disruption to our work, and purchase a permanent home for our human rights work in the world’s most multicultural city, please contact us at 416-363-9933, exts, 24, 27, 29, 31, or make your gift online today.
A house,
in the heart of Toronto, owned by Amnesty International, is
a vision that speaks to Canada's global commitment to human
rights. Join us as we build a home for Amnesty International.
