Take action on your own

Each of us can take action to protect human rights. It's easy. It's personally rewarding. And it's vitally important work!
Here are a few examples of what some individual Amnesty members are doing across Canada.
- One person placed an Amnesty campaign sticker on his apartment mailbox - and the next day his neighbour asked how she could get involved.
- Three friends, wearing Amnesty t-shirts and distributing Amnesty bookmarks, stood up during their school classes for one day - and invited classmates to "Stand up for human rights."
- An Amnesty member has developed an email list of 12 friends who want to receive ready-to-sign and send Amnesty appeals once a month.
- Another Amnesty supporter distributes Amnesty appeal postcards in her place of worship on a day when prayers are offered in support of human rights activists.
- Yet another member has arranged with the local librarian and manager of his favorite bookstore to display an Amnesty poster.
- Online, in your school, along your street, at your workplace - how can you involve people in protecting human rights? What activity can you take starting this week?
