Celebrating Refugee Contributions

Gloria Nafziger, Refugee Coordinator, (centre) with Somali women from Madbakh – Women’s Initiative, one of eight refugee communities Amnesty International partnered with at Harbourfront in Toronto on Canada Day, July 1st, to celebrate the contributions each community has made to Canada. An AI Action centre provided the public with the opportunity to respond to some of the human rights violations which have forced people to flee. AI Secretary General, Alex Neve, presided over a citizenship ceremony at 12 noon.
