I am deeply saddened by the Racism and Discrimination and Violence that is being perpetrated against Indigenous women and girls in Canada. Our Indigenous Sisters deserve better in Canada. The Canadian Government must Act Now.
Samantha Snow Minister, I am urging you for a national plan of action to stop violence against Indigenous women and girls in Canada.

The government of Canada says it wants healing and a restored relationship with Aboriginal people. The effects of these disappearances and murders on Aboriginal families is having the opposite effect. It is oppressive, stalling their healing, and it builds more and more mistrust between Aboriginal peoples and the law. Can we please put an end to this horrible legacy between Aboriginal peoples and the law that started over 150 years ago?

That a country like Canada allows its Indigenous peoples to exist as second-class citizens is nothing short of a national crime.

  M. Kathleen Richards When I think of Stolen Sisters, I am ashamed to be a Canadian citizen! I think Canada's lack of care and action on behalf of these women is reprehensible and the fact that they have no where to turn is made worse by what happened in BC at the pig farm of that horrible man, whose name I cannot bear to repeat, and by the police who knew and did nothing! For Shame Canada! For Shame BC and all the provinces and territorial goernments who sit idly by and watch the demimation of these great peoples! I wish I could turn back the clock and remedy what misery we have continually created and meted out against our Aboriginal communities! It is time for Canada to put their money where their mouths are and help Aboriginals all over the country sustain and maintain their human dignity so that their children will not have to suffer as we have made their parents, grandparents and great grandpartents. This is a chapter in Canadain history that is definite human rights violation and should be rectified immediately!

Several recent local cases have brought this issue to the forefront of public awareness. Please follow ALL these recommendations to ensure that indigenous women are at least as safe as all other Canadian women.

Canada needs a strong national plan of action to protect our Aboriginal women and girls. This plan must be developed and maintained in cooperation with Indigenous women's organizations.

We must stop the violence against all women in our society - but especially address the disproportionate amount of violence perpetrated against indigenous women in this country.

It is a shame to know in a country such as Canada, innocent indigenous women are being solely targeted because of their origins and raped and killed in such brutal and inhumane ways that it makes us question is there is any justice at all... So i plead yo to work at stopping the massacre, protecting innocent women and preventing tragedies from happening all over again...

  A. Katherine Duperron I remember how upset my daughter was when we watched the documentary about Helen Betty Osborne. It was the first time she realized that an investigation into her death might look different from an investigation into the death of a friend who was from a reserve.

It's terrible that, in 2012, we are still having to even organize petitions like this! I am ashamed for this pervasive attitude on the part of our so-called authorities who shouldn't be allowing such abuse of ANY Canadian women and girls or men and boys for that matter, to continue! That could be any one of their mothers, sisters, daughters, wives, etc. Wake up and smell the abuse!!

Please do everything in your power to stop this violence.
Dr M.G.R Hickman-Barr Your appalling lack of response and misogyny with regard to issues that affect women is clearly demonstrated in the Robert Picton debacle. Respond differently now and show that the Canadian Police Force has learnt from its past errors.

How can we call ourselves a democratic, progressive country if we don't treat our indigenous women with the respect and autonomy that they deserve? It's time to stop the political bullshit and bafflegab and step up to the plate with REAL action.

Isn't it about time real action is taken to help Indigenous women? Since I was a child I've heard of the abuse and dismissive attitudes of white society as regards First Nations women ( and men for that matter). That is 60 years ago and not much has improved as far as I can see. Please do something. Tanya

This terrible injustice has to be addressed. It is time that the indigenous peoples of Canada were afforded the same rights and safeties as all Canadians.
