"Inaction is action at it's worst."
jill holland , city,

"I was a toddler when the world stood by while the people of Rwanda slaughtered each other. I will not be a silent member of the international community. As our officials, we have entrusted you to represent us and help those in need. The Sudanese people should not fear their government, but you should recognize the power of the people and act before you are ousted from your comfy chairs in this century's League of Nations. In the words of Edmund Burke, "All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing"."
Luke O\'Neill , London, ON

"The mental and physical impact this conflict is having on women is devastating, with many women being frequently and systematically raped. Furthermore the mental anguish most women have to endure because they are forbidden to talk about being raped so as to avoid being ostracized by their community. Girls as young as five and women as old as eighty have been raped. The international criminal court has filed a report on these atrocities and so it is imperative that we do something to stop this conflict immediately. Refugee camps need protection so that women are not raped while collecting firewood. And inhabitants of these camps need mental and physical support to deal with the devastating circumstances they have lived and are living through. Action is needed immediately! Please help!"
Jennifer van Wyck , Vancouver, BC

"As a 15 year-old student, I have but little power. All I can do is ask YOU to make a difference. You have the power,so you have the responsibility to look after your fellow human beings. "
Melissa Mitchell , Belleville, ON

"We need to stop this dependency on oil--as the people of Darfur are demonstrating, we cannot LIVE on it. This is a terrible lesson that hopefully, from which we ALL should learn. LIFE is the important thing, not the carbon-based ancient dead, nor our modern conveniences."
Janet Solomon , Dartmouth, NS

"STOP GENOCIDE NOW!!!!!"
Sharlotte Appalsami , Richmond, BC

"So, Alex Neve is heading back to Sudan to reassess a situation that is deteriorating beyond belief. How frustrating for him and other humanitarians to know that despite their valiant efforts, the world community leaders and governments are still not responding. Remember Rwanda, the Holocaust, DRC, Bosnia...? Enough -- we are responsible for the well being of these people. Sovereignty is negated when repressive regimes turn a blind eye to human rights concerns. I know there are people in the upper echelons of the Canadian Government who are intently awaiting some sort of humanitarian direction from the party in power. Please, human rights should never be intertwined with politics. Do something. That is what you have been hired for..."
Gail Clark , Keewatin, ON

"This conflict has now gone on for 6 years.....Don't you think it's time something was done to help stop the atrocities from happening. Omar-al-Bashir must be brought to trial, but at the same time the civilians of Darfur must be protected. Please act on this now, don't wait another 2 years and thousands of more lives. These people deserve better, they deserve our support and commitment NOW. "
Linda Care Penney , St. John's, NL

"Solving ignorance may be too great a task for the governments of the world, but easing the pain and suffering of genocide survivors requires only time and money. "
William Whyte , Whitby, ON
