In July, Iranian-Canadian journalist Zahra Kazemi died from a blow to the head while in Iranian custody. She was arrested for taking photos outside a prison in Tehran. Amnesty has repeatedly called on the Iranian authorities for reforms which guarantee the true independence of the judiciary to ensure that human rights defenders are protected while perpetrators are brought to justice. © AFP | |
