Reach Out for Kenya
February 27th is International Day of Action
More than 1,000 people have been killed and over 300,000 displaced from their homes since violence broke out in response to elections in Kenya.
Immediately, Amnesty International sent a mission to investigate the human rights situation and help mobilize international action to protect civilian lives.
Although the violence has abated, there is an uneasy calm as the mediation talks take place, led by Kofi Annan.
Urgent Action:
Death threats against Wangari Maathai
Kenyan human rights defender Professor Wangari Maathai received three death threats by mobile phone text on February 19 saying: "Because of your opposing the government at all times, Prof Wangari Maathai, we have decided to look for your head very soon ..."

A Canadian company still tied to Myanmar?
Take action through Share Power, Amnesty’s campaign on business and human rights
The world was shocked last autumn to witness the arrest of monks and other peaceful demonstrators in Myanmar (Burma).
Governments around the world reacted by imposing strict trade sanctions. The Canadian government has banned all imports to and exports from Myanmar and has banned any new investment in Myanmar.
And yet, Power Corporation of Canada still maintains investment ties with a French oil company with investments in Myanmar.

Join Amnesty's Share Power action to convince Power Corp to be a positive force for human rights in Myanmar.
