Toronto,
Please take the time to be aware of the horrible impacts Canada is responsible for in regards to resource extraction. This bill will allow people to have their voices heard.

Make it so!!! You might also consider a bill for injured canadian workers . Human rights of injured workers in Canada are most definitely being ignored and abused by the WSIB, CSST, etc.

As a Canadian citizen I find it deeply disturbing that we can present ourselves as a leader in human rights issues, then violate those rights behind closed doors or in areas where the laws differ. Those rights must extend to the communities and environments that any peoples, our own or others, are dependent upon. Human rights are not just for developed nations or not-for-profit groups. They are not for just when it is convenient or doesn't interfere with profit. They are for all nations, all companies, all peoples, at all times.

Canadian corporations should be held accountable no matter where they are operating. If we are going to hold them accountable for the loss of avian life in Canada then it would be embarrassing not to hold them accountable for human rights violations around the world.

Canadian corporations benefit from tax advantages that I, as a taxpayer, indirectly pay for. They represent me, and I personally try to avoid products and services that have been produced in violation of basic human rights standards. These companies, which have ample resources, should be held to the same (or higher) standards when conducting international business.

The statement that this act would harm Canadian mining is admitting the fact that Canadian mining companies are abusing foreign circumstances. If Canadian mining companies are not doing anything wrong they should have nothing to worry about.

Canada has an immense impact around the world because Canadian mining companies make up 70 to 80% of the world's mining companies. It is crucial that we hold up democratic standards in international contexts; our credibility as a nation depends on this. With the recent loss of UN Security Council membership, the rest of the world is sending a strong message that Canada has not been acting ethically enough. Please support Bill C300, and work to restore Canada's reputation around the world.

Krista DeCoste As a Canadian, I want to feel proud of the role we have in creating a safe, healthy, and respectful world. I think the Government of Canada can make a positive impact by sending a strong message to those companies who ignore human rights in the quest to profit from the natural resources of others.

Our name in the world has been blackened because of our participation in wars defending the aggressers, our lack of peacekeeping troops and our indiference to enviornmental issues. Let's start to turn this around by doing the right thing here and ensure that human rights are respected no matter where we are working.
