Appeals for Letter Writing
On this page you will find the list of individual actions selected by Amnesty International for Write for Rights. Each of the actions includes background to the case plus recommendations on the content and format of letters to be written. The index of cases is organized by language, and by country.
Some cases have more than one suggested letter-writing action, for instance, with the inclusion of instructions and an address for sending a message of support directly to the individual subject of the action. Many of the actions also have associated videos or video introductions by Amnesty campaigners, plus links to learn more and take further action.
The full list of appeals for action will be published on December 1st.
SOLIDARITY ACTIONS:
Send 2009 Greeting Card messages of hope
People featured in the campaign include: prisoners of conscience, people under sentence of death, human rights defenders under threat because of their work, and others at risk.
These cards offer hope and encouragement and can act as an effective way to bring about change. The impression your cards make on police, prison staff or political authorities can help keep the people you write to safe.
