Amnesty's Youth and Student Program

Piggybacks at the HRC Amnesty International encourages and supports youth activism through the Youth & Student Program. Young people are a diverse crowd, and not everyone's a student, so we've tried to offer membership options that accommodate different ways of working.

Individual Activists

You may wish to take action as an individual. This could involve writing letters, gathering signatures on petitions, writing articles, giving presentations or otherwise taking action on your own. As an individual activist, you are basically a full single member of Amnesty International Canada (English Speaking), but you get extra support and materials from our excellent youth and student co-ordinator.

Clubs and Groups

A more popular option is to participate in the program through a Youth and Student group in your community or at your school. You can sign up as an Amnesty or Multi-Issue club and take action together for human rights.

Why Not Do Both?
Just because you're in a group doesn't mean you can't be an individual member of Amnesty! (Or vice-versa) If you've got questions or aren't sure which one is right for you, read through the information on this web site to get a better idea of the program, or contact us for advice.
