Summer 2019 Tabling Guide

Summer is finally here and the season brings the perfect opportunity to get active with Amnesty in your community!

From local community fairs and music festivals to speaking tours and Pride parades, there are countless opportunities for Amnesty supporters to spread the word and build support for our work for human rights through tabling.

To get you started, we’ve prepared a tabling toolbox with all the resources you’ll need to get active this summer. Make sure you have all the tools you need, and then take action on the important issues below.

Protest and Parade with Pride

All around the world, Pride marches and events are held to celebrate hard won rights for LGBTQ2S people and to continue demanding equality. But in many parts of the world, Prides are not allowed to take place or face backlash, repression, and violence and many activists working to ensure LGBTQ2S rights are protected, respected, and upheld face harassment, criminalization, and violence.

Take part in your local Pride to promote the rights of LGBTQ2S rights defenders.

Call for Justice for the Mount Polley Disaster

This August 4th marks the critical 5th anniversary of the Mount Polley tailings dam failure and Indigenous peoples in the area and other communities continue to face human rights and health harms. Still no one has been held accountable by the Canadian government for the disaster.

Help us collect solidarity messages on wild sockeye salmon cut-outs to send to people harmed by the disaster and gather signatures on our paper petition to the Canadian government.

Justice for Grassy Narrows

The people of Grassy Narrows First Nation are living with the deadly consequences of mercury dumped into their river system more than 50 years ago. Decades of government inaction have jeopardized their health and their culture.

It’s time for the federal government to act and this is a crucial time to gather signatures to let them know.
